Making History: Kurdistan Technical Institute Becomes the Only Internationally Accredited Institute Across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region

In a prestigious and momentous ceremony, Kurdistan Technical Institute (KTI) announced a historic and unprecedented milestone across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Following six months of rigorous, comprehensive, and independent evaluations conducted by the UK-based International Education Accreditation Council (IEAC)—covering all academic departments, study programs, and administrative operations—KTI was officially awarded Full 5-Star International Accreditation, the highest possible rating. With this landmark achievement, KTI becomes the only technical institute in Iraq and the Region to secure this prestigious global accreditation.

Alongside this premier recognition, the Institute was also honored with two specialized awards from the British accreditation body for:

Excellence in Practical Learning and Bridging Education with the Labor Market.

Digital Innovation in Teaching and Assessment.

In addition, KTI‌s Centre of Excellence earned its own distinct international accreditation, granting it the authority to deliver globally recognized certifications, including qualifications from the UK‌s ASIQUAL.

Founded in 2015 with only four departments, KTI has grown into the largest technical institute in the Kurdistan Region, currently featuring 12 scientific departments and having graduated nearly 5,000 skilled professionals. Throughout its journey, the Institute has recorded exceptional achievements, including earning the ISO 9001 certification, entering the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, inclusion in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, and securing 3rd place across Iraq in the SCImago Institutions Rankings.
