Deanship of Kurdistan Technical Institute congratulates Halabja on becoming a governor

The Deanship of Kurdistan Technical Institute (KTI) congratulates the people of Kurdistan and Halabja on the occasion of the governorship of Halabja. Here is the text:

We warmly congratulate all Kurdish people in general and the proud Halabja residents in particular on the approval of the bill to become the fourth province of the Kurdistan Region. We hope this decision will alleviate some of the suffering of this city and destruction, including the March 16, 1988 chemical attack on Halabja.

As the Dean of Kurdistan Technical Institute, we congratulate all those who played a role in passing this bill in the Iraqi Parliament, at the same time we consider ourselves to be happy partners of the people of Halabja. Happy Halabja Provincial Day again.

It is worth mentioning that Halabja:

- It is one of the oldest districts in Kurdistan.

- In 1991, the Kurdistan Parliament recognized it as a province.

- In 2014, the Iraqi government declared it a governor.

- On March 13, 2023, the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the bill to make Halabja governor and then sent it to the House of Representatives.

- On April 14, 2025, the Iraqi parliament passed the bill.

- Halabja province consists of the central district of Halabja and districts (Khurmal, Biara, Bamo and Sirwan).
