The Position of the Kurdish Language on World Mother Language Day

On the occasion of World Mother Language Day, on Thursday, February 20, the Deanship of Kurdistan Technical Institute organized an open dialogue on the status of the Kurdish language. Dr. Luqman Rauf, Editor-in-Chief of Context Magazine, presented an article titled “Mother Tongue and Preserving Self-Identity.” Dr. Adalat Abdullah, a writer and lecturer in the Digital Media Department at KTI, discussed several important topics related to the current state of the Kurdish language in his presentation, “Mother Tongue in Journalism and Media.”

UNESCO first declared February 21 as World Mother Language Day on November 17, 1999. The organization calls for this day to be recognized as an opportunity to discuss and protect mother tongues.
